Q:
What exactly IS The Actor’s Library?
A:
Basically, it’s the best of my brain and personal database.
For years I’ve been using my talents as a career strategist to help multi-hyphenate creatives who feel pulled in a million directions. (Does that sound like you?) I’ve helped hundreds of actors get focused and move forward faster.
I wanted a place where actors could reach me and get affordable guidance – AND to get career advice from some of my favorite people in this biz – so I built this website.
The Actor’s Library is the only online resource designed specifically for smart actors that offers audio, video, written, and live training to teach you how to strategically put to use all of the knowledge and materials that you already have.
You’ve bought books, taken classes, learned from courses… but HOW do you use that info to go from where you are to where you want to be? (That’s what The Library can help you figure out.)
Q:
Is this a pay-every-month type of membership site?
A:
NO. NO. NO.
I was an actor too – for 10 years. And I feel like way too many people treat actors like we are ATM machines because we are so dedicated to investing financially in our careers.
The Actor’s Library has a one-time-only fee for joining – then you are a member for life. And, as I add to the website in the years to come, you get all that too.
Why even charge a membership fee?
Because it’s “pay attention” money. (We both know that whenever you have some “skin in the game” it changes your mindset entirely!)
You can see that I’VE stepped up to the plate and created the Library. And the membership fee is how YOU step up to the plate and indicate to me – and to yourself – that you are ready, willing, and able to create the success you’ve been saying you want.
Q:
Is this the same “how to start my acting career” info that I can get from books, etc.?
A:
Nope.
The Actor’s Library is designed specifically for folks who have learned THAT stuff already.
The Library goes to the next level – directly to the stuff that is absolutely essential for sustaining your success. This is the strategic stuff that no one teaches you. This is the stuff that will help you build a career of significance that can produce income from your art.
It’s the difference between learning:
“To get an agent, you should do a drop off.”
vs. learning:
The exactly-what-to-do, exactly-what-to-say strategic approach to maximizing a drop off so that it begins a relationship between you and that agent. (And then what to do after that…)
Q:
How will becoming a member of The Actor’s Library help my career?
A:
If you apply what you learn in The Library, here are just some of the ways it can impact your career:
:: you will feel less overwhelmed and less like you are being pulled in a million directions
:: when you are working on one aspect of your career, you won’t feel guilty that you are “neglecting” the other areas because you will understand how they all feed into your focus
:: you will feel like you have the courage to make bigger, bolder moves because you’ll have a constant source of support, accountability, and inspiration
:: by learning how to maximize and leverage the opportunities that come your way, you will conserve energy on the business side of things and have more energy to put towards your creative endeavors
And, by reducing the overwhelm, the guilt, the redundant efforts, the fear… you will make room for what you DO want: the ability to generate awesome opportunities and make a living doing what you love.
Q:
What do I get if I join?
A:
A kick-ass keychain!
(just kidding)
You get:
:: access to my brain… plus access to: success stories, audio training, video training, my article archive, my InfoList archive, my personal resource list, book reviews, and recordings of the previous HotSeat calls
:: access to all 30 Coffee Date interviews (download them anytime you want ‘em)
:: monthly 90min. HotSeat calls with me (recorded live then archived in the Library)
:: a special rate on private coaching with me
:: a 45% discount on all of my products and courses
…plus automatic access to anything that is added in the future.
Q:
Do I get to work directly with you?
A:
Yep!
Every month we’ll have a members-only 90-minute HotSeat call. You can hop on and off the call as you like – and the full recordings of the calls will live in the Library for you to listen to or download any time you’d like.
The call will start with a bit of training from me, then we do the HotSeat session, then there’s 30 minutes of open Q&A.
Library Members can apply to sit in the monthly HotSeat (which isn’t scary at all!) When you’re in the HotSeat you’re getting a free, one-on-one, 45-minute session with me… and, in return, you’re allowing the other members to listen and learn from us working together.
Free one-on-one sessions… pretty much the most affordable I can make it for you!
Q:
If I’m already a member of The Actors’ Network, why should I join The Actor’s Library?
A:
I’m a member of The Actors’ Network too!
The strength of that terrific organization is in connecting you with peers, colleagues, and industry folks – live and in person.
Also, once you’re a member of The Actors’ Network, an amazingly thorough (and often overwhelming) avalanche of industry info and showBUSINESS training falls into your lap.
But neither the contacts you make nor the business info you learn is of value if you do not know how to apply it so that it creates enough momentum to boost your career to the next level.
THAT’S what The Actor’s Library helps you with.
The Actor’s Library is the resource that teaches you HOW to use the info you already know and the materials you already have.
You’ll learn:
:: how to define a focus
:: how to design your life to feed that focus
:: how to process the info you gather
:: how to filter opportunities through your focus so you can make quick, clear decisions
:: how to arrange the order of what you do so that you exert less effort yet produce more results
…and more (but, of course).
Q:
What if I’m a voice over artist and not necessarily an actor – will this website help my career?
A:
Absolutely! In the career strategy realm, the guidance truly overlaps between the two disciplines.
Some of The Actor’s Library founding members are established VO artists:
:: Bob Souer
:: David Lawrence (the voice of AOL)
:: Eliza Jane Schneider (South Park)
:: Amir Talai (Kung Fu Panda)
:: Doug Turkel
:: Paula Price
And each of those folks contributed their expertise by being interviewed for a Coffee Date. So, when you join the Library you can immediately start listening to the recordings of these Coffee Dates – each filled with detailed guidance:
:: building a full-time voice over career
:: marketing for voice over artists
:: the biz of voice over and animation
:: career advice for voice over artists
Listen to samples of all 30 Coffee Dates here.
