AMG: the Actor Mastermind Groups

Glad you’ve stopped by to check us out!

We currently have two groups – one that meets in Santa Monica and one that meets in Glendale. They both totally rock. Read this page for more info on both.

What if I have a question that is not answered below?

You can contact Kristine Oller (our coach) and she will happily help you out! She’s at 818-500-1683 and at kristine@kristineoller.com

What is AMG all about?

AMG is really a support group for success. Yep. Because when you are breaking through to higher levels in this industry you need to be connected to colleagues who can support you through those growing pains and you need to be guided by a coach who can help you maximize the opportunities as they start to roll in (faster and faster.)

While collaboration is a big part of the actor’s art, there is much of a working actor’s job that is quite solitary. AMG members are a very special group of positive, proactive, like-minded actors who come together to network, share experiences and information, and help each other make fewer mistakes and waste fewer dollars.

AMG is focused on celebrating action. Venting occasionally, sure… chronic complaining, no thanks. Holding members up when they are having an off day – of course… lifting people up month after month – no way. These groups are all about facing your biggest dreams head-on and going for them all the way.

Who started these groups?

Dawn Joyal got this whole shebang started when she founded the Santa Monica group in August of 2011. She is a dynamo who delights in sharing her info with other go-getters.

Yakira Chambers was super-excited when she heard about the Santa Monica group – then totally bummed when she heard that it was completely full (with a waiting list!) So, being one very proactive lady, she took matters into her own hands and persisted until she convinced our coach, Kristine Oller, to establish a second group in Glendale.

Who coaches these groups?

Career strategist Kristine Oller.

She specializes in designing clear, focused plans of action for ambitious, multi-talented creatives. You can read more about her here.

How many members are in each group?

22 max.

WHEN do the meetings take place?

Glendale meets the first Thursday of every month from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Santa Monica meets the first Friday of every month from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

Kristine, our coach, will be on-site 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after each meeting to give members one-on-one guidance as needed.

WHERE are the meetings held?

The meetings take place in private homes in Santa Monica (FYI: dogs) and in Glendale (FYI: cat). Each location has plenty of free parking.

What happens at the meetings?

You will be given a Meeting Guide that you can fill out before each meeting (if you want to) that will help you assemble your thoughts and communicate clearly and concisely.

The purpose of this group is to help you gain momentum in your acting career in the most effective and efficient way possible through coaching, group support, and accountability.

This group will assist your commitment to taking consistent action outside of your comfort zone to achieve your dreams – one bold step at a time – and helping others in the group to do the same.

Each meeting has 3 segments:

1)
Victory Reports – where you have 1 minute to let the group know how your career advanced since the last meeting

2)
Planned Actions – where you have 1 minute to let the group know what you intend to do before our next meeting to contribute toward making your next Shift (and you’ll find out what “Shifts” are, don’t you worry!)

3)
Issue / Instructive Story Time – where you can get feedback from the group regarding career-related questions or problems you have and/or you can share an industry-related “Instructive Story” about how you achieved something (or about something that happened to you) that you think the group will truly benefit from hearing.

How much does membership cost?

$25 per meeting.

Payments are required for all meetings – even those you are late to or absent from.

How do I pay?

When you join the group, you’ll pre-pay $25 – by credit card or PayPal – using the button on this page. That secures your seat in the group.

The financial accounting will be done once a quarter – this gives you 3 months in which to make your payments for maximum flexibility:

– You can pay $25 three times…
– or a $50 payment and then another payment of $25…
– or one payment of $75 to cover the quarter…
– or, if it’s easiest, $300 to cover the year…

…whatever is best for your budget. Pay when you have the money – just pay $75 prior to the end of each quarter.

What if I have to miss a meeting?

It’s fine if you have to be absent. It’s fine if you show up late. You do not need to tell anyone if are going to be late or absent.

You will still owe $25 for the meetings to which you are late or absent in order to keep your seat.

If you miss a meeting, we’d love for you to send a message to the group via email later in the day to say “Hey I was at an audition! (or whatever).” That way we can cheer for you and know you are alive.

In general, what you contribute and the way you contribute will or will not resonate with the group. If you “feel the love,” then make this monthly meeting a building block of your career. If not, your decision to graciously move on will be supported.

What if I want to change groups?

If there is a seat immediately available in the other group, then you can seamlessly transfer your membership from your current group to the other one. If there is not a seat available, then we can add your name to the waiting list.

How does the waiting list work?

The waiting list is NOT first-come-first-served. When a seat opens up, the founders and coach hand-select who they would like to invite into their respective groups next. The invitee gets an email and has 24 hours to respond. After that time period, another person is invited and so on until the seat is filled. Selection priority will be given to folks referred to the group my current members and then to those who have demonstrated a high level of proactivity in their careers.

What if I want to leave the group?

The first step is to let Kristine know.

If we can fill your seat by the next scheduled meeting, then you are free to go… if we do not have ample time and thus can’t fill your seat, then a final payment of $25 is requested to cover the cost of that empty seat at the next meeting.

(Obviously, we can’t force you to honor this request, but we’re assuming you are a fine, upstanding citizen and there is no cause to worry.)

Is there anything I need to do before I join?

Yes. Please watch this video (and download the worksheets) before joining AMG. In the video Kristine explains what a “focus” is and how to define one for yourself.

You will need to know this info to participate fully in AMG, and it is a great way to get a feel for what Kristine is like and what she has to offer. (This is the first video in a series that she is preparing for another project. But she thought you would find it helpful so she made it available here.)

You can download the 2 worksheets for this video as a PDF

(right-click the link to save to your computer).

Can I join the Santa Monica group?

Sorry, not right now. At the moment all 22 seats are full – but we welcome you to hop on the waiting list.

Can I join the Glendale group?

Sorry, not right now. At the moment all 22 seats are full – but we welcome you to hop on the waiting list.

How does the waiting list work again?

The waiting list is NOT first-come-first-served. When a seat opens up, the founders and coach hand-select who they would like to invite into their respective groups next. The invitee gets an email and has 24 hours to respond. After that time period, another person is invited and so on until the seat is filled. Selection priority will be given to folks referred to the group my current members and then to those who have demonstrated a high level of proactivity in their careers.
